課程概述 |
Thermodynamics is one of the subjects that is rooted to our daily life, starting from our boiling water in the morning, the operation of our cars, to the melt of ice in our cold drinks. This course covers the basic principles of thermodynamics while presenting a wealth of real-world engineering examples so students get a feel for how thermodynamics is applied in engineering practice. I aim to relate students themselves to the concept of states and equilibrium. In addition to the phenomenological equations, the idea of microstates and statistical thermodynamics will be introduced to explain entropy. Furthermore, applications of thermodynamics in multicomponent systems, phase diagrams, and electrochemistry, and their impacts in industries will be illustrated. |
